07. 06. 2011 ZŠ Kamenná - My name is Abraham Print E-mail
I am the spirit of one significant gentleman who was a chairman of the Jewish Community of  Úsov in the 18th century. Let me invite you to a walk. We shall be roaming and following the traces of my ancestors. Just enter the locations where the Jews lived together, settled in the ghetto of Úsov and where they used to meet together in the synagogue.

Such is the beginning of the education program for pupils of the grades from the 1st to the 5th one. It is just the Abraham´s spirit who accompanies the children on their way to new cognitions, with whom the pupils compose their own schoolbooks dealing with the basic history of the Jewish culture and with their traditions.

The children experienced the lessons interactively, they became accustomed to the millieu of the ghetto, they experienced the Sabbath ritual and they were searching the house where Abraham lived. They visited the place of his eternal rest and they listened to the fairy tales and local legends. They created their own rubbings on paper of various symbols.

The children from the ground elementary school  in Kamenná were very interested in the program. Their collaboration was amazing and their final evaluation of the program was mostly simple: „I liked it all.“

We are very delighted with this praise because it fully supports all the basic ideas of Respect and Tolerance. These ideas mean that understanding different cultures including our own, leads us to mutual understanding and helps us to realize that natural diversities can enrich us all.
